Reaching the Community with the Love of Christ

Pastor Marilyn Dawkins was born and reared in Columbus, Ohio.  She is married to Stanley Dawkins and they are the parents of two children and four grandchildren.

Pastor Dawkins is retired from the State of Ohio with over twenty-two years experience in human services programs.  She has over twenty-five years of experience working with incarcerated women in facilitating their successful transition to the community.  She began in prison ministry in 1981 ministering in various institutions throughout the State of Ohio with Wise Men and Women Outreach Prison Ministry of Columbus, Ohio.  In addition to Prison Ministry, her teaching and evangelistic ministry expanded to various half-way houses, Refuge Temple Church of Christ, and New Covenant Believers' Church of Columbus, Ohio during the time period of 1981-2004.

In 1986, she founded Believers' Ministries as a prison ministry offered to women who are incarcerated in the Ohio Prison System.  In February, 1998, Believers' Ministries was granted status as a tax-exempt, not for profit corporation.  The prison ministry continues and has been expanded to include an aftercare ministry for male and female ex-offenders in halfway houses and the community at large.  Services to the general public have been added and now include an Outreach Evangelistic/Teaching and Care Ministry for the lost, the needy, and the lonely in Columbus, Ohio, and the surrounding area.  Pastor Dawkins serves as Believers' Ministries Executive Director.

In 2001, she received her minister's license at New Covenant Believers' Church, Columbus, Ohio.  Pastor Dawkins was ordained on July 21, 2002, as an Elder at New Covenant Believers' Church under Bishop Howard Tillman, Pastor.  In November 2003, Internal Revenue Services granted Believers' Ministries' request to be re-classified as a church.

Pastor Dawkins' dreams, visions, and plans continue to unfold as she leads Believers' Ministries in Outreach through tape ministry, radio ministry, television ministry, Bible Correspondence Courses, referrals/linkages to community resources, counseling services, mediation services, men and women support group meetings, never alone fellowships, youth ministry, church and evangelistic services.

Pastor Dawkins is dedicated to spreading the gospel through concentrated outreach efforts reaching the lonely and the lost in the community and in the Ohio Prison System -- one person, one family at time.
